Mayan Calendar – 2012 End of the World

The Mayan calendar is a complex arrangement of multiple calendars utilized in conjunction.  Two calendars used are the Tzolk’in and the Haab.  The Tzolk’in calendar contains 260 days.  The Haab contains 365 days.  The aggregated function of these calendars produces a cycle of 52 Haabs (52 years) and is referred to as the Calendar Round.  Smaller cycles of 13 days (Trecena) and 20 days (veintena) exist as well.

With the invention of the place-notational Long Count calendar , the Mayan refined a system for which events could be recorded in a linear relationship to each other, and also with reference to the calendar (”linear time”) itself. Both energies will support one another. That is how come this period is named “one of harmony, the kingdom of love and the return of consciousness”.
