Mayan Calendar – 2012 End of the World

Mojarra Long Count Date
The Mayan calendar is a complex arrangement of multiple calendars utilized in conjunction. Two calendars used are the Tzolk’in and the Haab. The Tzolk’in calendar contains 260 days. The Haab contains 365 days. The aggregated function of these calendars produces a cycle of 52 Haabs (52 years) and is referred to as the Calendar Round. Smaller cycles of 13 days (Trecena) and 20 days (veintena) exist as well.
With the invention of the place-notational Long Count calendar , the Mayan refined a system for which events could be recorded in a linear relationship to each other, and also with reference to the calendar (”linear time”) itself. Theoretically, this system could promptly be broadened to represent whatsoever duration of time wanted, by merely adding to the count of higher-order place markers utilized. In practice, most Maya Long Count letterings restrict themselves to marking exclusively the first 5 coefficients in this system (a b’ak’tun-count), for this was more than capable convey any historical or current date (with an equivalent span of more or less 5125 solar years). Yet, example inscriptions exist which noted or entailed more drawn-out sequences, signaling that the Maya easily understood a linear (past-present-future) conception of time.
December 21, 2012 is the commencement of a new larger time period of 26.000 years and a smaller time period of 5200 years. The Guatemalan ‘Mayan Elders of the Eagle Clan’ stated: “This is a cycle of wisdom, harmony, peace, love, of consciousness and the return of the natural order”. It is not the end of the world as people from external of the Mayan tradition have misconstrued it to be. The first cycle (Ajaw/sun) was a feminine energy and its element was fire. The second cycle (Ajaw/sun) was of masculine energy, and its element was earth. The third cycle (Ajaw/sun) was a feminine energy and its element was air. The fourth cycle (Ajaw/sun) is a masculine energy and its element is water. The fifth cycle (Ajaw/sun) will be a fusion of both feminine and masculine energies. It will be a changeover where there won’t be any more opposition between the polarities. It will bestow equilibrium and there will not be power structure of one over the other. Both energies will support one another. That is how come this period is named “one of harmony, the kingdom of love and the return of consciousness”.
The Mesoamerican Long Count calendar forms the cornerstone for a New Age notion, that a cataclysm will occur on or about December 21, 2012, a prediction that mainstream Mayans scholars debate a misinterpretation, yet is typically cited in pop-culture media as the 2012 problem, the “2012 End of the World”.

2012 is predicted by some with New Age beliefs to be a great year of spiritual transformation (or alternatively an apocalypse). This is in keeping with an uncodified, eclectic belief system referred to as Mayanism whose roots can be found in 16th century Christian eschatology affecting Maya texts such as the Popol Vuh and the Books of Chilam Balam that were written down after the Spanish Conquest.
I am a little confused by the words of the Elders of The Eagle Clan. They speak of 4 previous cycles, and one to come. Those five would equal 25,625 years, i. e. 2012 A.D. But they speak of the fifth cycle as yet to come. What am I missing?
Around 750 AD, the Mayan Civilization started to collapse they considered themselves in the 5th cycle. Currently our solar system is in its last cycle of darkness before starting again. This fifth cycle we are currently coming out of. Keep in mind the cycles will eventually repeat.
